I need to submit a senior picture that has the following editing:

-2x3 as jpeg file 300 dpi
-Measures 1/2 inch from the bridge of nose (just below eyebrows on the bridge of nose where the glasses sit) to the bottom of the chin

How do I accomplish this in Photoshop Elements?

I am newly familiar with the Photoshop, but dont know how to use specially PEN TOOL and VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL GUIDES.

I use the lasso tool to make selections then fill it in with blocks of colour. In CS2 this works fine and is quite smooth (anti alias selected) but I have just updgraded to CS3 and the lasso tool is noticeably more jagged (again with anti-alias selected). I can't see any major changes in the preferences and I have the bicubic interpolation set to default. But the lines appear like they do when you don't have square pixels, with more straight lines apparent rather then curves. I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this, I don't want to have to keep hitting refine edges after each selection as that is very time consuming.

while saving psd or tif in compressed mode (LZW), i get an error 'COULD NOT COMPLETE YOUR REQUEST BECAUSE OF A PROGRAM ERROR'.if i save the file in compressed mode (none) i wont get the error. why is it that i am getting this error. is there any problem in settings or file format (post scripts) etc. kindly let me know

I recently got Photoshop Elements 6, cause I heard photoshop is good for coloring manga. Buuttt, I think you have to "lift" the lineart from the background before you can color it. How does one go about doing that?? Also, I have no tablet at the moment and probably won't be able to get one for a few months. I have PS Elements 4.0. I recently purchased a laptop (HP) with Vista. I tried to load PS Elements and it looked like it was successful. Then when I tried to load photos from my SD memory card, it would only load 83 of the 600 photos. You know that almost NONE of your tutorial links work, right? As an aspiring Graphic Artist, I find this incredibly discouraging and inconvenient. You need to go through your links and FIX THEM. Most of the time, I either get a TOTALLY unrelated website, or the page simply doesn't load. (Page Cannot Be Found)
For those unrelated sites, it usually turns out to be some other website advertising something that is just BARELY related even to photoshop. I find this unacceptable and in dire need of fixing.
Please, on behalf of myself all other users out here, fix this problem.

I am having a problem... When I upload my photoshopped pictures, in RGB color, as well as in .jpg format, onto myspace, it seems to loose its vibrant color and fade/wash out once uploaded onto myspace. I even tried uploading an original of the picture that had not been photoshopped and it did the same thing. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am useing Elements 6 I put my image onto a new layer. And want to add a drop shadow around my image before putting it over a new background. I've tried every way possible but cannot access the Layer style bar to get to the drop shadow!!!!!

After I skew a shape the skewed lines appear pixilated. It looks ok when I go to optamize it but pixilated when I save it. Also, I need to save it as a PDF and if I do, can it be edited like a PSD?

I have a picture in a jpeg file from a dig camera; I have traced around the head so that I can use it and down onto an Ecard which will only take jpeg, Once I cut around the photo, how do I paste that head into a jpeg. It won't save, can't move it out of the picture , etc.

My buddy gave me a plug-in "Color Washer v.1.01 and i installed and it worked fine. I had to re-boot my computer to factory settings due to a ndt2.sys malware from a magic ISO install, and now that eveything has returned to normal after installing the colo color washer plug in, Photoshop CS3 shuts down after trying to run the plug in. I need to make avatars with a max size of 30k. I do animated ones and need to know some tricks for keeping the file sizes down. I am doing an animated USA flag for instance and the file size ends up being over 100k. i have some problems when it comes to anime on photoshop. first, when i scan the drawings i make into the computer, it get's really fuzzy, loses all its details, and the lines become really ugly. then i have huge problems trying to make the lines as clear and neat as possible, and i also don't know how to make sketches into neat lineart ready to be colored. any help would be appreciated!:)

What is the best way to remove glasses reflections. We do not have a picture of person without glasses so that is not an option.

It used to do it automatically, but now, when I type, if I get to the edge of the box, the type just stops and does not wrap to the second line. I have an image that has 2 lines of text at the top. I want to sut out the second line of text and paste it on the botton of the text. I will also need to reposition the remaining text at the top )because there will be a big spot where the second of line of text was removed. I have tried the slice tool and all that it slices is the background color. the text does not slice.

When I work on a photo in Photoshop, even though I opened it from the My Pictures folder, I cannot save it back to that folder the same way when I close it. It will appear in the folder when I call up My Pictures from the control panel, but only as a "Photoshop image" and when I want to send it in an email, it does not appear in My Pictures when I open that folder to "Insert picture". The only way I can get it into that folder to access it is by going to Picasa, where it also appears, and then emailing it from there to my alternate email address. There it comes as an attachment, so I have to open it then hit "Copy to" and "My Pictures"; and then it is finally in all the correct places. The problem is this works OK for high-resolution photos, but for lower-res pix and for business cards, greeting cards, etc. the quality of the image gets destroyed in the process of opening the attachment, so when I save it, I lose all the clarity of the image. Can someone please tell me what to do? I am getting desperate. Thanks.

I am using photoshop cs3.

I want to make a logo out of my own handwritten signature, emboss and apply layer styles so that the end result is embossed in a gold effect.


I have tried various methods without joy and thought you may be able to help me. The main difficulty I have experienced is the scaling issue, it destroys all layer effects ,when I scale the writing down to a size that might fit on the top banner of a website that I am trying to design for myself.
Do you know how to take a piece of handwriting, put it in ps cs3, and manipulate it so that in the end it appears 3d/embossed with a golden appearance.I appreciate that it is easy to achieve this with font text.

I want to fade a colour photograph to use as a background for some business cards. It should end up looking almost 'washed out', but still identifiable. Basically, just softening/fading, not blurring. I know it's probably very straightforward, but I need some help please.

Ive been practicing some of the text effects such as the frozen, flaming, and toxic texts. These are really cool , but I can only get them to work if i start with the black backgrounds as stated in the tutorials. I would like to take these texts and put them onto a photo. I know there is the magic eraser and selection tool, but these tend to leave way too much black, or lose too much of the effect. Is there a way to do these effects onto the photo itself to being with, without first doing them on the black background?

I want to start a clothing line, and all the graphics I made I saved them in a jpeg format, now I am told that they have to be in a psd format to be able to be printed because the jpeg format is compressed. I really don't know if there is a solution to this but I strongly hope so...

I was wondering if someone could help me figure out how to make celebrity wallpapers. I see alot of creative wallpapers on the internet but cant figure out for the life of me how these people do that. I see wallpapers with numerous photos overlayed on top of one another, and with numerous colors as well. Take for instance Keira Knightley from POTC, I saw a nice wallpaper of her that had alot of sparkle and color along with several photos in it but they were nicely placed and overlayed. Could someone help me out, I am in that celebrity wallpaper kick.

How would you go about softening a face. I don't understand how to use layers. I've seen senior portraits and somehow the studio softens the face.

I woundered if there is any way to ekspand the letter in fonts. to make them thicker. I have tryed to merge and expand that didn't work. Or is this not possible..

Let’s assume I have some .jpg displayed on a website or forum, etc. When highlighted these files usually turn grayish. Is it possible, to create an invisible pattern, that will show only when the image is highlighted?

I guess, another way to describe what I’m trying to do is; having two different pictures on top of each other, the ‘top’ pictures is displayed at all time, but when the image is highlighted, the ‘rear’ image is displayed instead.

I have a picture and I want just the picture, no background. I have managed to outline just the picture but everytime I try to save and reopen in another program the white box is still there....I have read the help info on photoshop 7.0 and I am still not understanding it I guess because its still there. I used to see, at the bottom of the screen, information of the action I will be effecting e.g. I make a fill and in this "toolbar" the word "fill" appears and the progress of work shown by mean of progressive highlighting.
